Five will be British curriculum schools with over 13,000 seats in Dubailand, Nad Al Sheba, Al Barsha and Motor City. One Indian school with 3,000 seats will open in Al Quoz. One Canadian school with a capacity of 900 students will open in Mirdif.

Next year, six schools with a total of 10,000 seats will open in Emirates Hills, Meydan, Dubai Investment Park (DIP), Dubailand, Al Barsha and Nad Al Sheba.

“KHDA welcomes new school applications from investors who can add value to the educational offerings in all areas of Dubai. Investors choose the location for the school based on how well the curriculum will suit the needs of that particular area. Owing to a growing economy in Dubai, we anticipate an increased demand for high quality education in the emirate. By 2020 we expect to see 110 new or expanded schools in Dubai providing seats for around 360,000 students,” said Amal Bel Hasa, Acting Chief of Regulation and Permit Commission, KHDA.
