Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the closure of cycling tracks in Al Qudra on Sunday, February 9, 2025, for the Desert Race, part of the 9th Al Salam Cycling Championship.

The tracks will be closed from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, the RTA posted on X.

Set within the Al Marmoom Conservation Reserve, the Desert Race features a challenging course that winds through sand dunes and rugged trails.

The Desert Race, the third stage of the championship, offers participants two routes: Sarouq Al Hadid (52 km) and Al Ashoosh (57 km), along with a timed sprint segment at Areeqib Brashi.

A total of 44 financial prizes will be awarded to the top 10 finishers in both race categories, while sprint challenge winners will also be recognized, with six Emiratis and six residents (three under 40 and three over 40) honored in each sprint race.

The championship continues with the Women's Race on February 16, 2025, at Al Marmoom Conservation Reserve, featuring a 107 km race for Emirati cyclists and a 136 km elite race open to all resident female athletes and GCC Cycling Federation members.
