DUBAI: If you have found your true love then you may as well seal it. And there’s no better place to do that than at the newly opened Promise Bridge in Dubai.

Just like at the famous Pont des Arts Bridge in Paris, people visiting the Promise Bridge near Mushrif Park in Al Khawaneej can also show their love to the world by fastening a padlock to the bridge and throwing the key into the waters.

Suspended over a mini manmade lake, the Promise Bridge is part of developer Meraas’ newest eclectic destination called The Yard which sprawls over 350,000 square feet.In less than a month since its opening, the bridge has got 4,000 locks.

The Yard which opened on January 28, comprises a rustic courtyard, an organic farmer’s market, bakery, restaurants and unique mix of shops, But it’s highlight is a lake spanned by two bridges.

People from various nationalities have been coming to the Promise Bridge. Some attach a lock to express their love, while others do it to make a wish.

Visitors can either bring their own locks or buy them from a nearby kiosk for Dh10 apiece. The kiosk sells locks in all colours, shapes and sizes. One can even write one's name on them.

A Dubai-based French couple were among many others seen fastening a lock when XPRESS visited the place recently. “This brings back fond memories as we clipped a padlock on Pont Des Arts in Paris in 2005,” said the Frenchman.
