Dubai witnesses good growth in number of people employed

Of the total population in the emirate of Dubai in 2000, a total of 65 per cent or 650,077 people are categorised as being in employment, according to the Statistical Yearbook 2000 published by Dubai Municipality.

The majority of this group is male - females account for a total of 62,165. In 1980 for instance, the total number of this group stood at 146,593. In 1985, it increased to 199,046, and in 1995 reached 428,019.

This indicates an increase in the general percentage of those in employment against the total number of people in the emirate.
