The Sheraton Dubai Hotel and Towers is undertaking a Dh3.67 million renovation for its royal and presidential suites. Major works on the rest of the property will continue over the next two years. Almulla Enterprises is the owner of the property.

Floor-to-ceiling windows directly overlooking the Dubai Creek are the main feature of the Abjar royal suite and the Habari and Rasha presidential suites.

New marble floors were installed in the living and dining areas with contrasting inset marble. Colour schemes were made subtle in shades of green for Abjar and Habari and soft rose tones for the Rasha suite.

Master bedrooms will have custom carpet designs and original artwork from Italy and London. The interior design is being done by London-based Hunt Hamilton Zuch.

"We have an impressive tradition in improving the appearance and function of interiors in our properties. The outstanding workmanship is capable of creating spaces, not just filling them," said Sami Zoghbi, president of Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide for Africa, India and the Middle East.

"We have further renovations coming up including a new conference centre and major changes to the hotel's lobby and exterior."

Meanwhile, the Sheraton Bahrain has won the most outstanding renovations award in the chain's Africa, India and Middle East division. The property completed a multi-million dollar facelift recently.

"This is a very proud hotel. So many major events have taken place here over the past 20 years, therefore the renovations had to keep the marvelous feel of the place but make it a pacesetter as well," said Karlheinz Aumann, a senior executive with Starwood.

"There has been a total makeover of all the royal suites, all rooms, restaurants and lobby. We are presently giving the pool area a makeover as well, and there will be an upgraded health club."
