Dubai: Dubai Press Club (DPC) has praised the "knowledge and expertise of its members" on the occasion of its 10-year anniversary.

The facility, which was established in 1999 following directives by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has grown over the last decade to include over 2,000 journalists, media experts, academics and students.

Since its inception, the DPC has played a leading role in enhancing the professional skills of Arab journalists through a variety of training programmes and workshops. It has also hosted numerous heads of state, ministers, political and business leaders.

The DPC is a founding member of the International Association of Press Clubs. Among its major achievements is the creation of the Arab Journalism Award, which has successfully completed eight editions; during which over 100 journalists have been awarded in various categories.

In 2000, DPC launched the Arab Media Forum, which has consistently attracted high-profile media figures from across the globe by virtue of the depth of its themes and vibrancy of its deliberations. Preparations for the ninth Media Forum are underway.
