The Doctorate of Law in Public, Private, or Criminal Sciences being offered by the Dubai Police Academy, will be offered to officers and civilians from the UAE
Dubai: A doctorate in law, accredited recently by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, will be the first such programme offered by a police academy in the Arab world.
The Doctorate of Law in Public, Private, or Criminal Sciences being offered by the Dubai Police Academy, will be offered to officers and civilians from the UAE, GCC states and with certain evaluations to other nationalities, said Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, acting chief of Dubai Police.
The language of instruction will be Arabic but the research requires proficiency in English. Registration for the programmes begins this month but only 25 members will be selected for this year.
"We have realised that many of the graduates are looking for opportunities to continue their post graduate studies in law and due to family commitments they can't travel to other countries.
"Based on our proposal to gain an approval for our doctorate programme from the ministry, we were able to prove the vast amount of interest in having a doctorate in law in the region," said Maj Gen Al Mazeina.
