Dubai: Aster Hospital, Al Qusais, has launched a new Urgent Care Clinic to provide fast, general practitioners-led treatment for patients with urgent but non-life-threatening conditions.

Walk-in treatment for non-emergency cases

Operating daily from 10pm to 6am, the clinic allows walk-ins without appointments, offering a much-needed solution for those seeking medical care outside regular hours.
Staffed by experienced general practitioners in general medicine, paediatrics and gynaecology, the clinic is designed to address common conditions such as minor injuries, cold and flu symptoms, stomach upsets, pregnancy-related concerns and paediatric issues.

Clinic to ease ER pressure

The initiative aligns with the UAE’s ongoing efforts to improve healthcare access by easing pressure on emergency rooms and ensuring critical cases receive priority. Instead of heading to the ER, patients with conditions like fever, diarrhoea, or pregnancy discomfort can now visit this specialised unit, which offers faster diagnostics and shorter wait times.

Facility bridges gap between outpatient and emergency care

Dr Sherbaz Bichu, CEO of Aster Hospitals and Clinics – UAE, Bahrain, and Oman, said the introduction of an urgent care clinic is a “strategic move” to alleviate pressure on the ER by redirecting non-emergent cases.
“This approach not only enhances patient care but also improves the overall efficiency of hospital services.”

The clinic supports continuity of care by serving as a bridge to follow-up visits or referrals when necessary. Dr Ramanathan Venkiteswaran, Consultant Paediatrician and Group Medical Director, Aster Hospitals and Clinics UAE, noted: “We often see that families and patients have to wait for the needed care, which often aggravates the challenge. Our General Practitioners and supporting medical teams will ensure that patients receive timely, condition-appropriate treatment, bridging the gap between outpatient visits and emergency care.”

Standard insurance accepted

Covered under standard insurance plans, the clinic is easily accessible to most patients. Although telehealth is not currently offered, integration via platforms like myAster is planned for future rollouts.

Depending on its success, Aster plans to expand the urgent care model across other locations in the UAE.
