Videos and photos show the fountain basin filled with water
Dubai: Could the Dubai Fountain be making a comeback sooner than planned? Recent social media clips showing the Downtown Dubai landmark filled with water sparked speculation that the popular attraction might return ahead of schedule.
However, Emaar has confirmed this is not the case. In a statement to Gulf News on August 22, the developer said:
“There is no confirmed reopening date for Dubai Fountain at this stage. Based on the current pace of works, we expect progress to continue in line with the schedule. Should there be any formal update, it will be shared through our official channels.”
Videos, particularly on TikTok, along with photos taken by Gulf News photographers on August 22, showed the fountain basin filled with water. The images fuelled speculation online, with many users suggesting the shows could be returning earlier than expected.
The Dubai Fountain has been closed since April, when its last show was held. Since then, sections of the basin have been exposed for repair, with construction equipment visible around the site. While the recent images indicate progress, Emaar has not announced any official reopening date. October has been widely mentioned as the expected timeline, but nothing has been confirmed.
In the meantime, visitors to Downtown Dubai are still able to enjoy a visual experience. Fences around the fountain site have been fitted with smart screens that play footage of past fountain performances in sync with the Burj Khalifa light show, keeping the attraction’s spirit alive during the renovation.
