Dubai: The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) through its Higher Advisory Committee will focus on three key initiatives in the coming months such as the implementation of the ‘Smart Government’ initiative, the Dubai Heritage and Tourism Season, and the city’s upcoming art season.

The initiatives were discussed when the committee first convened recently to drive forward the city’s creative and cultural strategy.

The committee, launched by Shaikh Majid Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture, draws on the collective expertise of veterans in the field of art and culture to spearhead the growth of the city’s cultural scene.

The committee will work to support the Dubai Tourism Vision 2020 announced by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, by focusing on the cultural aspects of the city, and thereby catering to tourists interested in arts and culture.

The meeting, headed by Shaikha Latifa Bint Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice Chairman of the Emirates Literature Foundation, was attended by Marwan Bin Beyat, Director-General of the Private Office of Shaikh Majid, and committee members namely, Jamal Khalfan Bin Huwaireb, Managing Director of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Foundation; Dhaen Mohammad Shaheen, Director-General of Publishing, Dubai Media Incorporated, and Executive Director and Chief Editor of Al Bayan newspaper. Other members present included Abdul Hamid Mohammad Juma, Chairman of the Dubai International Film Festival and Gulf Film Festival; Ahmad Bin Eisa Al Serkal, Chairman of Al Serkal Group; and Dr Salah Al Qasim, Adviser to Dubai Culture and in his capacity as the General Coordinator; and Dr Hessa Bin Masoud, Strategic Manager of the Authority.

After extending the greetings of Shaikh Majid to committee meeting, Shaikha Latifa provided the members and guests an overview of the committee, its vision, and the goals that it must achieve to fuel the growth of Dubai’s cultural and artistic industry.
