Dubai Aquarium launches education programmes
Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo at The Dubai Mall has recently launched the Ocean School Education Programme with the students from Dubai International Academy being the first group to experience the highly interactive sessions.
Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo stresses on spreading important messages on environmental care in a fun and interactive way. Close encounters with animals are an important part of creating awareness, and the aquarium has a team of marine specialists ready to help visiting school groups understand animal behavior.
The programmes are specially designed for students ranging from early childhood to seniors in high school. The topics covered under the programme include adaptation, survival strategies, conservation and reproduction and a number of city schools have booked hundreds of students to partake in these educational sessions.
A visit to Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo consists of travel through four ecological zones: Rainforest, Rocky Shore, Living Ocean and Aquarium Tunnel where a variety of aquatic animals, including Piranhas, Giant Spider Crabs, Water Rats, Giant Catfish, Lizards, Tiger Fish, and Dart Frogs and featured. The experience designed to follow the journey of a raindrop falling from the sky into the rainforest, crashing into the rocky shore, before flowing into the ocean. Close encounters with animals and displays along the way educate the students about the various aquatic eco-systems while the marine biologists and trained staff engage them on a range of activities.
Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo will be home to over 33,000 animals, representing some 85 species.
