Drivers honoured for safety standards
The Emirates General Transport and Services Corporation has awarded certificates of appreciation to drivers and its auxiliary staff for their strict adherence to safety standards.
The corporation's buses are mainly used in transporting children to their homes and schools in different Education Zones of the country, including Al Ain.
The certificates were given by Sheikh Mohammed bin Raqad Al Ameri, a member of the National Consultative Council, in a ceremony held recently in the auditorium of Al Ain Municipality. The ceremony was held at the end of a week long training of the drivers and other staff members.
Raza Darwaish, Director of Business at Emirates Transport, Matar Sorour Al Shamsi, Director of the corporation's Al Ain branch, and Mohammed Moein, Director of Schools' Transportation, also attended the function.
Emirates Transport has been transporting students in the Al Ain Education Zone, operating around 132 schools in the region.
Thorough checking and maintenance work has recently been carried out on all the corporation's buses to keep them fit for operation starting from next week.
The Al Ain branch has specified a fleet of 333 busses for schoolchildren. The corporation has also kept some 32 busses in an emergency pool to maintain continuity of service in case of break down.
