Dr Abdullah Omran Taryam, Chairman of Dar Al Khaleej newspaper group, dies

He was the first and one of the youngest ministers to become the Minister of Education in the history of UAE

Dubai: Dr Abdullah Omran Taryam, Chairman of Dar Al Khaleej newspaper group, passed away early on Thursday from a stroke at the age of 66.

Born in Sharjah, 1948, Dr Abdullah finished his schooling in Sharjah and Kuwait schools and went on to get this Bachelors degree in History from Cairo University, Egypt. He later received his PhD in Modern History from the University of Exter in the UK.

He established Al Khaleej newspaper with his brother the late Taryam Omran in 1970, which has then grown to become Dar Al Khaleej newspaper group.

Over the years, Taryam had held the posts of Minister of Education and Minister of Justice. He was the first and one of the youngest ministers to become the Minister of Education in the history of the UAE.
