Dubai: The Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department is playing a key role in helping female Emirati employees maintain a balance between their personal and professional lives.

Lieutenant Mona Ayoub, Assistant manager of investment and financial administration, DNRD, addressed a seminar on obstacles faced by women in the business world at Zayed University.

She said the DNRD had taken many steps to help women, such as establishing a women's committee to deal with social issues faced by women, as well as a nursery school.

There are also other concessions such as shorter working hours and maternity leave for pregnant employees. She said there are no restrictions against women.

She said the number of Emirati women employed in the Dubai government is more than 5,692, of whom 1,050 work in the DNRD, which constitutes nearly 20 per cent of the total female workforce in all government departments.

She recalled the DNRD's role in supporting her education with a free scholarship to earn a bachelor's degree, under direct supervision of Major General Mohammad Ahmad Al Merri, director of the DNRD.
