The consequence of parking on the footpath is appalling and noticeable, according to Gulf News reader P.C. Omar.

He said: “They [photographs I took] show the damage done by motorists who regularly park on pavements in the Tourist Club Area. Unless the authorities take serious action against such ridiculous behaviour, all pathways in the neighbourhood will be spoiled and the tiles will be damaged.”

While parking woes continue for residents in Abu Dhabi, it does not give them an excuse to spoil public property, the reader said. “I’m afraid drivers will begin to park inside corridors or elevator areas, too! We all know that we are short of parking space but parking [in this manner] is a nuisance to the public. These motorists should be penalised.”
