De Cardi to be honoured

A special celebration will be held to honour a leading British archaeologist, Beatrice de Cardi, on her 90th birthday during the Seminar for Arabian Studies in London.

De Cardi was one of the founders of archaeology in the UAE. Having first carried out surveys in the country in the late 1960s, she has since worked for many years on survey work in Fujairah, Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah, and was awarded the Al Qasimi Medal by His Highness Shaikh Saqr bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ras Al Khaimah Ruler, for her services to the heritage of the emirate.
