Dubai: The Dawoodi Bohras around the world are celebrating the 99th Milad (birthday) of their leader Sultan-ul-Bohra, the 52nd Dai el Fatimi, Dr Syedna Mohammad Burhanuddin Saheb (TUS) today.

On the occasion, Dr Syedna will grace Mumbai, his home town, amid thousands of community members who are gathering from across India and many other parts of the world, including the Middle East, Far East, North America, Europe and Africa to offer greetings and beseech the blessings of their beloved leader. 

Approximately 800 from the UAE have flown to Mumbai to join the celebrations and present an invitation to Sultan ul-Bohra to visit this country later in the year.

A total of 700 community centres across the globe that have commenced celebrations from the auspicious occasion of the birthday of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) have organised prayer gatherings, Quran memorisation competitions and events covering medical camps, seminars on health, trade fairs and expos, business seminars, launch of low-cost housing schemes, mass marriages known as ‘Rasme Saifee', indoor and outdoor sports programmes, arts and handicraft exhibitions for the social, educational and economic benefit of the entire community. 

In an expression of love and affection for their revered leader the Dawoodi Bohras have organised colourful processions and decorated their homes and community centres.
