In Dubai, more than 2,000 people attended the flag hoisting ceremony, and later participated in a cultural programme put up by pupils of the Indian High School and the Indian Community Welfare Committee at the Indian High School, Dubai.

Similar activities were also held at the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi where Talmiz Ahmad, Indian Ambassador, hoisted the national flag.
Dedication
He said the dedication of the entire Indian community in helping the needy amnesty seekers in the UAE has made Independence Day celebrations more worthy as it reflects the values and traditions of the country.
He was speaking to Gulf News on the sidelines of Independence Day celebrations in the embassy in Abu Dhabi. "Participation of all community organisations, corporate groups and individuals in the voluntary services to amnesty seekers makes the community proud," he said.
