CSS and Dulsco victors in cricket contests

In an exciting finish Consolidated Shipping Services defeated visitors Raha Club from Oman by five wickets to enter the semifinals of the Catch Spring Water Gold Cup for the XII Ramadan floodlit cricket tournament.

Chasing a target of 199, Consolidated Shipping were in deep trouble at 64 for four. Nisar bowled well to capture all the four wickets. Skipper Syed Maqsood led from the front with an unbeaten knock of 86. He added 75 runs with Naeemullah, who followed his three-wicket burst with an invaluable 41 off 42 balls with three fours. Naeem's departure at 150 brought Raha once again, but Maqsood stayed till the end clinched victory for his side. CSS meet defending champions Emirates airline tonight.

Earlier, Saeed Ahmad (85 off 73 balls with seven fours and four sixes) helped Raha Club, electing to bat, make 198 for eight in the stipulated 35 overs. Skipper Sajjad Ahmad played his part with a quick 45 (six fours and a six).

Dulsco subdued defending champions Oman Insurance by five wickets to enter the final of the Pass Pass Gold Cup. Chasing a target of 187, Dulsco, after a good start, lost a couple of wickets and were 135 for five at one stage, but romped home without further loss.

Earlier, Oman Insurance, put in to bat, managed to score 186 for eight despite losing wickets at regular intervals.
