Dubai: Ras Al Khaimah Police have referred seven individuals of various nationalities to the Public Prosecution for publishing false and misleading content on social media that “disturbed public opinion and threatened social stability.”

According to police, the individuals were apprehended following an investigation that tracked their online activities since the beginning of 2025.

The suspects allegedly shared video clips and written posts containing misinformation, false claims, and exaggerated commentary on social issues. The content, disseminated across multiple digital platforms, was deemed to undermine public confidence and disrupt social cohesion.

The General Department of Electronic Investigations stated that the posts included inaccurate information and unverified claims related to sensitive local matters. Authorities emphasised that the shared material not only violated legal standards but also posed risks to public safety and order.

Ras Al Khaimah Police said that electronic surveillance and community reports played a key role in identifying the sources behind the viral content. Specialised teams monitored accounts, tracked engagements, and collected evidence before initiating legal action.
