Abu Dhabi: The Ministry of Interior has thwarted a sophisticated attempt to smuggle and distribute illicit narcotics across the country, seizing a significant quantity of illegal pills hidden inside heavy construction machinery.

In a late-night operation, anti-narcotics teams monitored suspicious movements of two men of Arab nationality, uncovering an international network involved in the trafficking and distribution of narcotic substances.

According to the Ministry, the suspects had allegedly established storage and distribution channels inside the UAE and had received the shipment from abroad.

The shipment, which originated in Hamburg, Germany, was traced to a shipping container that concealed a large construction excavator.

Upon inspection, officers discovered hundreds of packets containing illicit pills hidden within the machine’s internal structure.

A second location was also raided, where the suspects had begun preparing the drugs for distribution within the country.
