Soldier suspected of sex with minor

Dubai: An Emirati soldier suspected of having sexual relations with a minor failed to appear in court on Wednesday.

The 23 year-old, K.R., allegedly had sex with a 13-year-old Emirati girl. Court records show the suspect first met the minor in October at Mirdif City Center. He picked her up and kissed and groped her in his car.

The pair met again the following day. K.R. took the girl to a hotel in Kalba, Sharjah, where he allegedly had sex with her. Forensic reports, however, state there was no evidence she was penetrated.

The girl said she called her uncle the next day for a ride home. He took her to the police instead.

The next hearing is on February 5.
