Joke between friends ends in tragedy

Sharjah: A 29-year-old worker is battling for life after he was seriously injured in a freak workshop accident on Tuesday.

The incident took place in a workshop in a Sharjah Industrial Area, a Sharjah Police official told Gulf News.

The victim, a Bangladeshi, and his co-worker were playing pranks on each other when the co-worker inserted an air pressure hose into the victim’s backside. The tremendous force exerted by the hose caused the victim’s stomach to rupture.

The victim was rushed to Al Qasimi Hospital in Sharjah for immediate surgery. Police charged the co-worker with putting the lives of others at risk.
