Sharjah: A jobless Emirati man committed suicide early on Wednesday morning in Sharjah, Gulf News has learnt.

A senior official from Sharjah police said yesterday that the 35-year-old hanged himself from a ceiling fan at his home in Umm Khanoor in the Al Sabkha area.

Police said that preliminary investigations with the family of the victim revealed that that Y.A killed himself because of family problems. An official said Y.A was not married and had no job.

“The police operation room received an emergency call at the early hours of Wednesday from Y.A.’s family informing them that their son had committed suicide in his room by hanging himself,” the official said.

Police claim that one of Y.A.’s nieces found his body when she opened the door of her uncle’s room to wake him up.

“We are investigating the reason behind the alleged suicide of Y.A,” the official said, adding that the body was moved to the forensic laboratory for autopsy.

The case has been transferred to public prosecution for further investigations.
