Jail and deportation for 17 for murder, trading alcohol, and getting drunk

Abu Dhabi: Seventeen Asians were sentenced on Wednesday by the Abu Dhabi Court of First Instance for murder, alcohol trading and getting drunk.

Sixteen Pakistanis and one Indian were arrested for killing a Pakistani man. Four were sentenced to seven years in jail and deportation for beating the victim to death. Additionally, they also have to pay Dh 200,000 blood money.

The court has also sentenced 13 to six months in jail and deportation on charges of illegal trade of alcohol.

In a separate case, the Court of First Instance set free nine suspects who were arrested for drinking alcohol.

However, the court has sentenced six of them to one year in jail for illegally staying in the country.

In a third case, a high school student and a university student were each fined Dh1,000 for having a physical relationship.
