Dubai: It is business as usual at the Garhoud Al Bustan Rotana Hotel. Visitors to the hotel may not be able to tell that a high-profile assassination had taken place in room 230 less than a month ago.

The hotel, according to Helena Al Sayed, Director of Marketing and Communication, is fully booked, and no planned events have been cancelled as a result of the murder of Hamas leader Mahmoud Al Mabhouh on January 19.

Attention

"The comfort of our guests is our priority, and we ensure that they are not disturbed," Helena said, adding that this can happen anywhere in the world and does not necessarily bring unwanted attention to the hotel.

As for how it is possible to book a certain room at the hotel, as suspect Peter Elvinger did when he booked room 237 opposite the victim's room, Helena said the hotel, just like other hotels, tries to accommodate its guests' requests.

"If a guest wants to stay at a certain room, and if that room is available at the time, we book it for him, but if it is not, we apologise," she said.
