A Gulf national woman, identified as R.H., has been sentenced to six months in prison by the Dubai Criminal Court after being convicted on multiple charges, including public drunkenness, disturbing the peace, and assaulting police officers. In addition to the prison sentence, the court imposed a fine of Dh20,000 and ordered her deportation from the United Arab Emirates upon completing her sentence.

The incident began when R.H. was arrested while intoxicated in a public area. Authorities reported that her drunken state caused significant disturbance, prompting a call to law enforcement. Upon the arrival of Dubai Police, the defendant became aggressive, physically assaulting several officers and verbally abusing them as they attempted to handle the situation.

The Dubai Public Prosecution swiftly moved to charge the defendant, referring both the criminal case and the civil aspects to the Dubai Criminal Court. After reviewing the charges and considering the severity of the assault on law enforcement officers, the court handed down the prison sentence, fine, and ordered her deportation.

In its ruling, the court emphasized the importance of maintaining public order and ensuring the safety and respect of law enforcement officers, whose role is vital in upholding the integrity of the legal system. Public drunkenness and physical or verbal attacks on police officers are treated as serious offenses under UAE law, and the court's decision underscores the country's strict stance on such violations.

The civil aspect of the case has been referred to the relevant civil court for further examination. This ruling serves as a reminder of the legal consequences of disregarding public order and disrespecting the rights of law enforcement personnel in the UAE.

Social media controversy

The woman, R.H., has also faced public scrutiny after claiming on social media that the legal actions taken against her were unfair. Investigations revealed that she was arrested in a heavily intoxicated state, disturbing the peace and using offensive language toward officers.

The Dubai Public Prosecution reiterated that the law is applied equally to all individuals, regardless of nationality or residency, and that any violation will result in legal consequences.
