Argument leads to murder in jail

A prisoner at the Dubai Central Jail yesterday killed another inmate, Gulf News has learnt.

The two men had a big argument a day before, according to a police source.

Another source said: "The victim is an Afghan who was serving a life sentence for smuggling drugs, while the accused is a Pakistani who was also serving a life term for murder. The two men did not get along."

"The two men were standing at the breakfast queue yesterday when the Pakistani stabbed the Afghan in the chest with a spoon ... The Afghan was rushed to Rashid Hospital for treatment. But he died in the operation room."

The cause of the argument is not known yet. "We tried to find out details, but the Pakistani did not say anything." Gulf News contacted senior police officials, who confirmed the incident but did not give details.
