Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Police seized 28 kilograms of hashish after a successful operation that tracked down a drug trafficking suspect to a farm in Al Ain, the police said on Wednesday.

The suspect was identified as a 31-year-old citizen of a Gulf country, and he was intending to sell the hashish he had been keeping at the farm. The suspect has been turned over to the judicial authorities for further proceedings.

Lieutenant-Colonel Taher Al Daheri, Head of the Drug Control Department at the Abu Dhabi Police, said a meticulous plan was put in place to follow the suspect to the farm house where large amounts of narcotics were being stored. Al Daheri added that the suspect was followed when he went to the farm area to collect the narcotics at night, after which the police stopped his car and ordered him out before searching and finding the hashish in the vehicle to the surprise of the suspect, who had no idea that his movements and farm were under surveillance.
