Couple jailed for forgery
A couple was given a six month jail sentence for forging documents and giving false information to the judge who married them.
The couple, a UAE national and a Jordanian, will be under court supervision for three years. The General Prosecution has charged them with forgery and misleading the judge.
According to court reports, the General Prosecution filed a complaint to Dubai Police and noted that the two went to the Dubai Courts to hold their wedding at the religious court.
The couple told the judge that the Jordanian's husband had died last year. They also brought with them two witnesses.
But on December 4, last year, the Jordanian went to the court and submitted documents proving her divorce from an Iranian. The court later discovered that she had given the court misleading information about her marital status.
