Sharjah: A 27-year-old worker was killed after falling from a building  under construction in the Al Butaina area of Sharjah on Tuesday, an official at Sharjah Police told Gulf News.

The victim was a Pakistani, the official said, adding that the incident occured at around 5pm.

The worker reportedly slipped while going about his routine work on the upper floor of the building. He died on the spot.

Workers at the site reported the incident to the police operations room.

A team from the Criminal and Investigation Department (CID) was dispatched to the building and transferred the victim's body to the forensic laboratory.

The Wasit Police is investigating the case and police have taken into custody the management staff of the company. Police are also interrogating the victim's co-workers who witnessed the incident.

Meanwhile, a 20-year-old Pakistani worker is fighting for his life at the ICU of Al Qasimi hospital after falling from the fifth floor of a building under construction in Sharjah's Muwailh area on Wednesday.

Police investigation is ongoing.
