Conference to assess future challenges

Dubai: The Dubai International Humanitarian Aid and Development Conference and Exhibition (Dihad) this year will discuss future humanitarian challenges.

Under the theme "Humanitarian challenges in the past, present and future", the 5th edition of Dihad aims to contribute to the dialogue on aid and development by exploring issues such as pandemics, climate change, scarcity of resources and nuclear incidents.

Ebrahim Bu Melha, Vice-President of the Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment and Chairman of Dihad Higher Organising Committee, said that to learn from past experiences and look for future solutions is essential to develop aid work and reach as many people as possible.

The conference and exhibition, to be held from April 8 to 10 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, will host more than 450 organisations from 60 countries in the humanitarian aid field.

International aid coordination will benefit from the conference, said Gerhard Putman-Cramer, Deputy Director for the United Nations Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
