Computer Shopper to feature 108 firms
At this year's Computer Shopper - which will have 108 exhibitors representing over 400 companies - Jumbo Electronics will lead the charge on the price front retailing a computer from as low as Dh2,200 - with free next day delivery anywhere in the UAE.
Jumbo is also the largest exhibitor at the show with 450 square metres displaying 21 brands - 10 per cent more space than last year's, says Vishesh Bhatia, Jumbo chief operating officer.
"We have lined up exciting deals and bargains, a technology fashion show, instalment purchase plans, four ATM cash machines, credit card company promotions - all designed to make the Shopper very user and purchase friendly, said Pankaj Nadkarni of Dubai World Trade Centre, the organisers.
"We are putting in a lot of effort and resources. The Jumbo stand will look like a 'Techno Town' staffed by a 100-strong team and under the slogan - Jumbo is Gitex," says Kiran Chhabria, Jumbo marketing and communications director.
Having exhausted stocks from last month's shopping fiesta at Sharjah Expo Centre, Jumbo now promises new products from various sectors of its operations - IT, Sony, telecom and office automation. "Much of the offering is the latest," Bhatia said.
Jumbo offers come with free insurance on every purchase of over Dh250 and a three-year warranty on laptops - apart from free WAP connection or e-mail settings, competitions and a chance to win Volkswagen Polo. Overseas buyers can have their purchases delivered wherever at a small cost.
The same deals will be available at the 29 Jumbo showrooms in the UAE during October 12-18. "Overall, the prices are down by 20 to 30 per cent during Gitex Computer Shopper," Bhatia said.
"The market is steady, but you have to fight for your share - and we like that," said Bhatia adding that, "Jumbo has an innate ability to perhaps do better than others. But it is still tough".
