A competition to nurture photographic talent among young residents, 'Wafi City Mall Young Photographer of DSS 2002', is being launched at Wafi City from August 6 to August 30.

Organised by Wafi City, the competition will be divided among three age groups — 4 to 9, 10 to 13 and 14 to 16.

"Photography is a wonderful hobby for anyone of any age," said Abdul Karim A. Hussein, assistant general manager of Salam Studio, which is offering some exciting prizes for the winners. "It's never too young to start and a fantastic way to capture moments that can be kept forever."

Dean John, assistant general manager of Wafi City, explained: "Entry to the competition is simple. All the kids have to do is take pictures of anywhere inside or the outside of Wafi City and submit their pictures to the Wafi City reception desk along with a completed entry form."
'Exciting pictures'

"What we are looking for is exciting pictures that can be shots of anything, from shoppers to the shops themselves! We just want the budding photographers to be as creative and imaginative as possible." The winner from each category will pick up a great prize of a camera, plus lots of goodies from the mall itself.

"Salam Studio and Stores has generously donated the main prize of a Pentax Option 230 for the 14-16 age group, while winners from the two younger groups will receive a Pentax Espio 115G of Pentax SLR MZ50," said Dean.

Dean noted that during the competition, a large selection of entries will be displayed for public viewing on the first floor.

A panel of judges from DSS, Wafi City and Salam Studio and Stores will decide the three winners who will be notified one week after the closing date.
