Fujairah: Fujairah’s factories and industrial zones are getting cleaner and that’s good news for every resident who breathes the air, drinks the water, or enjoys the emirate’s natural beauty.

A new report from the Fujairah Environment Authority reveals a 5% rise in environmental compliance in the first quarter of 2025, compared to the same time last year. This was revealed after a round of inspections that saw over 1,700 visits to industrial sites.

Why should you care? Because environmental compliance is not just about paperwork. It directly impacts the health of your community, the quality of your environment, and the long-term sustainability of the emirate.

“We continuously train and upskill our technical teams so they can apply the latest global best practices in environmental monitoring,” said Asila Abdullah Al Mualla, Director of the Fujairah Environment Authority.

“We also work to regularly update our regulations to reflect the evolving climate and environmental challenges the world is facing. These efforts are echoed in the practices of our local industries, which are increasingly prioritising environmental health and the quality of life for everyone in the community,” she said.

No major violation

During the inspections, 55 environmental violations were found. However, notably, none was severe. This is a strong indicator that local industries are taking environmental responsibilities seriously.

Also, the teams not only enforce regulations but also work closely with businesses to guide improvements and promote awareness around the importance of environmental stewardship.

“Our vision is shared, and our partnerships are growing,” said Al Mualla. “Together, we’re building a greener, more sustainable Fujairah.”

24/7 protection for environment

Al Mualla also noted that the authority’s emergency and inspection teams are available 24/7 to respond to any environmental concerns. The public can report violations or ask questions by calling the toll-free number 800368, helping ensure quick and effective action whenever needed.

In addition to these efforts, the authority continues to conduct routine inspections throughout the day, ensuring that all establishments remain compliant. The Fujairah Environment Authority operates under a comprehensive strategy in partnership with both federal and local government entities. This collaborative approach helps align efforts across all sectors, safeguarding natural resources and ecosystems for future generations.
