Celebrating in style

The National Day was celebrated with much vigour in Al Ain. Each section of the community expressed their joy in their own particular way, some with parades others with feasts. But what did the running buffs of Al Ain Hash House Harriers do? Of course, they celebrated with special runs to mark the occasion.

It translated into a camping weekend on December 1 and 2 for the Harriers who pitched tents and ran to their hearts' content through the jebels near Mahdah, enjoying the traditional Nash Hash Runs (Nash for National Day).

More than 200 runners and their guests from other emirates had a chance to sample the Al Ain hospitality.
The first run through the mountains was held at 4.00pm on December 1 and it rounded off with a barbecue dinner. The Harriers then stayed up telling jokes till the early hours. The next day saw them ready to tackle the other run which kicked off at 9.00am.

The trip was sponsored by Coca-Cola, Spinneys, Hilton Inter-Continental and Rotana Hotels, Gulfa water and Studio Sophie. T-shirts were presented to all participants who enjoyed a superb National Day camping holiday.
