Abu Dhabi: Getting your car washed just got costlier as Adnoc stations have increased the washing prices by 50 per cent since the beginning of this month.
The prices for washing automatic cars went up from Dh20 to Dh30. The prices for a manual wash have gone up from Dh30 to Dh40 for a small car and from Dh35 to Dh45 for a big car.
Gulf News tried to contact Adnoc officials, but they were not available for comment. A supervisor at an Adnoc filling station, who did not wish to be named, said there has been a "slight decrease" in the number of customers coming to the station.
"On average, a hundred plus people come to the station every day. But the number has gone down slightly."
No added value
"It is a blow to car owners, who are already suffering due to inflation," said Anil C. Idiculla, a regular Adnoc customer. He added, "The price hike will make people depend on illegal workers who clean cars in parking areas."
Another car wash regular, Mousa Alavi, who works for a distribution company that owns several vehicles said it is "very inappropriate" to increase the cost with no added value to make this extra spending worthwhile.
