In an age characterised by globalisation, it is but natural that the younger generations are prepared and educated to be able to deal with such an environment.

The call of Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Education, for educating the youth on tolerance of other cultures and religions is well stated. He also stressed that only by the use of such means would terrorism among youth be averted. "Helping the youth define and identify gives them hope for the future, by instilling understanding and appreciation of different cultures and values such as tolerance and peace are the responsibility of every nation," said Shaikh Nahyan at the opening of the World Leadership Summit in Abu Dhabi.

As almost half of the country's population is made of a young generation, it is crucial that they are equipped with the tools that would help them play a role in the development of their country. But it is also important that they are trained to deal with the issues and problems brought about by a globalised age.

No doubt, the task is not simple. It is challenging and time consuming. But building for the future is a worthwhile effort.
