Fujairah: An eight-year-old boy fell into a deep well on Sunday evening in Fujairah's in Al Bidyah district.
Lt. Colonel Saif Al Zahmi, Director of Dibba Fujairah Police, said the boy was only rescued after an Asian man heard cries for help coming from the well.
The police central operations room received call on Sunday at around 5pm about the incident.
A police officer on patrol, Sergeant Ali Al Khuzimi, arrived at the scene and went down the well to rescue the boy with the aid of an Emirati man who was also present in the scene of the incident.
The boy was taken to hospital for checks and was discharged after doctors who checked him found he was unharmed or unhurt.
Police summoned the boy’s parents and the owner of the area where the deep well was located for questioning.
Brigadier Humaid Mohammad Al Yamahi, Director general of Police Operations, urged all community members not to keep the wells open for the safety of the community, especially children.
He urged parents to be closely supervise their children for their own safety.
He also thanked those who helped to rescue the child.
