The latest in Bollywood gossip
Aishwarya's little lamb!
Where there is Aishwarya there is Salman or vice versa, has been no secret of late. And the recent classic example of this was seen at the FICCI conference and celebration bash at the Regent Hotel where apart from all the top notch producers and directors along with Shatrughan Sinha and Priya Gill, even the above mentioned love birds also made their presence felt.
Needless to say that Salman, in a hep outfit followed Aishwarya, who was dressed up in a casual Indian garb, like Mary's little lamb. And then when the Satellite guys and the lensmen were hell bent on clicking them away to glory, both of them quickly disappeared into the thin, cool air outside, holding hands and cootchie-cooing as if there was no tomorrow.
Jackie's Grahan, Dimple's Leela
While Jackie Shroff's one more home production Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rahta Hai has already lighted up the cinema aisles, even his long overdue Grahan, his first home production is all set to hit the celluloid silver screen in the nearest future and all thanks to NRI financiers, who not only come to the rescue of stuck up films like Grahan, but who also backup big projects like that of the duplicate showman Subhash Ghai's film Taal and Sanjay Leela Bhanshali's Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.
Besides, these NRIs are also keen to produce their own films. So, now we have two fresh NRIs Somnath Sen and Kavita Munjal who have launched their first film Leela under the banner of Lemon Tree films starring none other than Jackie Shroff and Dimple Kapadia who were last seen together in Mahesh Bhatt's Kaash.
Anupam Kher turns director
It has been for a long time that Anupam Kher had nurtured dreams to turn to film production and direction, but things did not work out even after he had announced his mega home production Aryan, of course to be directed by himself.
But now his dreams have been finally fulfilled by Vashu Bhagnani, who has signed him to direct his next project under the banner of Puja Films International, in spite of the lukewarm response of his last released film Tera Jadoo Chal Gaya.
Besides this, Anupam is also directing another untitled film with the Satish Kaushik-Anil Kapoor team.
Divya Dutta dubs for Lisa Ray
You may see Lisa Ray in Kasoor. But it is actress Divya (Train to Pakistan) Dutta who dubbed for Ray in the film. Why? Simply because our Bombay Dyeing haute model turned anchor turned actress was not comfortable talking in Hindi.
While Lisa prefers to play the demure damsel and refrains with "no comment, Vikramji is the best person to answer your question," Vikram Bhatt says he was justified since "Lisa is not at home with the national language."
But then Bhatt always has this trend to dub the heroine's voice. Earlier, he had got dubbed Rani Mukherji's voice in Ghulam. All the same, talented Divya Dutta expects more of Bhatt than giving her dubbing assignments. Will he cast her in his next film? Let us wait and watch.
Tantrum Tara thrown out of Dhawan film!
Tara Deshpande is acting too big for her boots before her career has taken off well. On the sets of Jeetendra's untitled Govinda-Sushmita starrer, Tara had a major showdown with director David Dhawan over her role, though it was explained to her earlier.
An irritated Dhawan promptly did what every intelligent director would do he chucked her out and replaced her with Rambha. He preferred to say 'Rambha Ho' rather than 'Tararum Tantrum'.
While Tara prefers to be unavailable for comment, her folks inform that it was because of date problems. On the other hand, Dhawan's people say that since the role did not develop as they had planned, they decided to replace Tara after a day of shooting.
May be, if the concerned parties want to deny showdowns, then they should at least mutually consent one another, despite their discontent!
Bobby Bichoo Deol dictates his terms
Bobby Bichoo Deol's career is hardly shaping the way it should. One can almost say that his career is in doldrums, yet the Deol ego still persists and does more harm to him than it should.
As recently when producer D Ramanaidu was in town on the eve of the release of his film Aaghaaz The Beginning, he had decided that he might as well sign up Bobby Deol for his next project, to be directed by one of the most talented directors down south.
But right at the outset, that too in a tele-conversation, Bobby inquired who was the director. Ramanaidu gave him the name, but Bobby just banged the phone down without any further discussions and poor Naidu was absolutely flabbergasted by the down and out starson.
Kamaal Khan, the singing star, had earned quite a name and fame for himself with his debut album O O Jaane Jana. But now he has entered Bollywood as well.
No, he is not turning playback singer, but is all set to make his debut as an actor. He has been signed for a feature film as a leading man, to be directed by Aditya Bhattacharya, the director who had also directed Aamir Khan in Raakh.
The film flopped very badly though it released within a year after Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, but Aamir Khan's performance in a negative role was very much appreciated. Aamir had earlier played a negative role in his second film Holi. His first film was as a child artiste in Yaadon Ki Baraat.
