The Abu Dhabi Local Department's Social Security Fund has announced the start of its Holy Quran Recitation Competition under the patronage of the Religious Endowments Department and the Abu Dhabi Educational Department.

Saeed Ateeq Salim, Director of the Fund's Administrative Board said: "In announcing the start of this competition we would like to give the opportunity to all national companies and individuals to contribute awards for the competition's winners. That can be done through generous financial support or through promotion."

The one-year competition is divided into four series, each lasting three months with a programme broadcast on Abu Dhabi Radio, every week on Friday.

Participation is open to both males and females from ages six to 40 years. Contestants can take part in three categories which are: whole recitation (30 parts), 20 parts and 10 parts. Three winners shall be announced from each of the categories at the end of the series.

The panel of judges includes Mohammed Mahmoud Altaba-lawi, the reciter of Al Azhar Mosque.

Female judges will also be available to assess female contestants. Registration for the competition is now open at the Abu Dhabi-based fund.
