"We are pleased with the excellent results of our youth in various sports last season. They are the stars of the future," Dr Al Tayer told Gulf News at the end of the function to honour youth players at the Rashid bin Hamdan indoor sports hall.
About 300 players from the swimming, cycling, tennis, handball, karate, football and basketball teams were felicitated.
The Al Nasr Club executive bureau chairman said that the performance of the club's youth showed the board that they were on the right path.
"Today's function for the youth showed that we are heading towards a bright futue according to the sophisticated styles in training the youth and preparing for the future in both sports and scientific training."
Dr. Al Tayer urged the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare (GAYSW) to form a special committee to nominate the best club of the season in all sports.
"We will not say that we are the best club in the UAE, but let other people judge according to the titles and trophies we won last season in various sports.
"I think the GAYSW have to form a special technical committee to watch the club activities during the season and results achieved by each club and grade accordingly at the end of the season so that we can know who is the best club in the UAE."
Al Nasr function to honour the youth teams was attended by Abdullah Al Hathbour, financial manager, Mohammed Jalfar, member executive bureau, Juma Jafar, director public relations, Ibrahim Al Fardan, handball supervisor, Mohammed Kahour, club manager, and other Al Nasr officials.
Juma Jafar, in his short speech on behalf of the club's board said, "What our young boys achieved in various sports came according to the wise leadership and support from the club Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance and Industry and President of the club.
"Also the great efforts carried by the head of the executive bureau and members and their daily follow up for our youth players in training and matches resulted in this great success." said Juma Jafar.
