Rashid Jabri Al Hamli won the second round of the UAE international Offshore Powerboat Class 111 ( 6 litres) Championship here yesterday at the Abu Dhabi Breakwaters.

Rashid completed the six laps in a timing of 32mins 41.67 seconds to beat Christian Rivolta to second place in a competition which made it very difficult for the drivers with the waves hitting some height as the race progressed.

Rashid, who averaged a speed of 48miles per hour registered his best lap in the second when he clocked 5:22.90.

Rivolta (35:13.86), who recorded the fastest lap of the event with a 5:17:74 in lap three, however finished about two minutes after Rashid.

In third place was another UAE driver, Rashid Al Marri, who completed the six-lap race in a timing of 35:16.89 got the host country it's second man on the podium narrowly beating Petri Rantanen.

Sulaiman Salahu, who finished fifth was the last of the five drivers to clock under six minutes in the individual lap timing. He completed the race in 36:44.99 to finish fifth.

A total of 16 drivers took part with eight completing all six laps. The other drivers who finished in the top eight were Joseph Tanyous, Ali Al Marar and Faisal Al Omani.

Saeed and Mauro Oallini could finish only five, while Petri Souminen, Risto Painio, Abdullah and Awad Al Qubeissi completed just four laps.
