Ajman Chess Club retained the under-20 championship title with a convincing 3-1 victory over Sharjah in the second round league matches. Ajman accumulated 5.5 points. Sharjah was second with 2.5 points. Ali Shaheen, Hussien Mohammed and Seif Hassan registered important victories which enabled them to retain the title.
Ali Shaheen was in excellent form as he conducted a brilliant attack against Mohd. Hassan to obtain a quick victory. Shaheen combined his queen and bishop to create mating threats against the black king. While Seif Hassan had an easy victory over Basit Saeed Hussien Mohammed had to toil in the ending against Mohammed Hassan.
In the Under 16 championship Abu Dhabi defeated Sharjah by 2.5 to 1.5. This match was hard fought and there were draws in the lower board. Ibrahim Ismail played fine positional game to outplay Mohammed Hussien of Sharjah.
Ajman tops the field in Under-10 section with six points after a 40 win over Fujairah. Abu Dhabi could obtain a 3.5 to .05 against Sharjah and are in second spot with 5.5 points. Abu Dhabi won on lower boards to get a clear 30 lead. They conceded a draw on the top board to clinch the title.
The Under-12 section is a clash between sharjah and Ajman. Sharjah top the table with four points while Ajman is in second spot with three points.
