Abu Dhabi: The Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) has launched a new environmental awareness initiative, the “Eltezam Campaign for the Cement and Cement Products Sector”, aimed at elevating compliance and improving environmental performance across facilities in the emirate. The campaign seeks to ensure full adherence to environmental regulations while reducing the environmental impact of industrial operations.

The initiative forms part of EAD’s ongoing efforts to safeguard the environment and protect public health. Through Eltezam, the agency aims to strengthen monitoring processes and raise awareness of sustainable practices within key industrial sectors. The campaign underscores EAD’s approach to balancing sustainable development with economic growth and environmental protection.

As part of the initiative, a specialised awareness session was held to familiarise facilities with environmental licensing requirements and best technical and administrative practices. Following the session, facilities were given a 60-day grace period to review their operations, identify environmental issues and implement necessary corrective measures.

From January 2026, EAD will begin conducting field inspections to assess compliance, identify violations and take enforcement action where needed.

Eng. Ahmed Al Wheibi, Director of Environmental Inspection and Enforcement at EAD, said:
“The Eltezam campaign reflects EAD’s commitment to promoting a culture of environmental compliance within the industrial sector and ensuring that operational processes align with environmental laws, regulations and permit conditions in Abu Dhabi. We believe collaboration with the industrial sector is fundamental to achieving sustainable development, and through Eltezam, we aim to support facilities in adopting more sustainable practices that protect the environment and enhance quality of life.”

EAD said the campaign represents a significant step towards achieving a balance between industrial development and environmental preservation, while reinforcing its commitment to building strong partnerships across key sectors to support sustainable growth in Abu Dhabi.
