Abu Dhabi cultural body raises cash prize for literary award

Abu Dhabi: An Indian cultural organisation here announced that prize money with its annual literary award to be given to Indian writers will be increased soon.

Abu Dhabi Shakthi Theatres handed over Rs750,000 (Dh57,000) to Literary Award Committee in Kerala recently.

P. Karunakaran, Chairman of the committee who is also a member of Indian Parliament, received the money from M.U. Vasu, president of Shakthi Theatres.

The award was instituted in 1987. The organisation is celebrating its 30th anniversary in Abu Dhabi. Year-long celebrations were inaugurated recently in the capital.
