ABC Benaulim and Siolim advance to last four stage

ABC Benaulim and FC Siolim booked the last two spots on offer in the semifinals of the Goan Inter-Village Silver Jubilee football tournament played at the Iranian Sports Club.

While ABC Benaulim knocked off six-time champions Colva by a solitary goal, FC Siolim got the better of a Loutolim side which dominated by could not score by the same margin.

Roy Das pounced on a rebound following a lovely cross from the left by Royston Rodrigues in the 28th minute to score the all-important goal for Benaulim.

In the second quarterfinal, it was the opportunistic Mario Gaonkar who tapped into an empty goal to end a fantastic run down the left from Paul Fernandes in the 31st minute.

Loutolim had earlier threatened the Siolim goal on two occasions - skipper Chris Alfonso being denied through a goalline save and Cedric Alfonso's try from 20 yards tipped over by the goalkeeper.
