Help your child get in touch with his spiritual side this year. A quick look at the various Islamic summer camps available

All centres ensure that classes are segregated. All activities are aimed at imbibing the Islamic spirit and emphasis is put on memorisation and recitation of the Holy Quran according to Tajweed and Islamic jurisprudence at all these centres.

Um Al Mu'mineen Women's Club, Ajman

* Girls, and boys below the age of nine.
* Weekdays, 9am to 1pm, until end of August.
* Transport: Within Ajman.
* Swimming, karate, computer studies, aerobics, stitching, henna and beauty. Also, a programme to help children revise their schoolwork.

Dubai Indian Islamic Centre's free summer camp

* Five to 15 years. Classes for women also held.
* Weekdays, 4.30pm to 6.30pm, until end of August.
* Study of Holy Quran, Arabic language, and various competitions.
* Transport: Provided free of charge within Dubai.

Adil Belramaitha Sports Club
* Boys and girls, six years and above.
* At Al Mizhar, Jumeira and Al Ittihad School, Deira.
* Thrice a week, two sessions a day.
* Boys: Choice of either timing.
* Girls: Limited to the afternoons.
* Quran, Sira and Hadith; Self-defence and swimming.
* Winner of the Quran memorisation competition, held every summer, is sent on Umrah.
* Transport: Provided within Dubai.

Usman Bin Affan Quran and Sunnah Educational Centre (Near Al Khan roundabout, Sharjah)
* Five years and above.
* Girls: 7am to noon
* Boys: 4pm to 8pm, until end of August
* Quran, Hadith, written and spoken Arabic, translation of the Holy Quran from Arabic to Urdu and Islamic jurisprudence. Teachers of different nationalities teach the Holy Quran.
* Transportation: Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman.

Children attending this camp have the advantage of continuing their learning even after summer. The centre also provides a canteen.

Markaz Al Huda Tahfiz Al Quran, on Al Wuhieda Street, Dubai
* Four years and above.
* Girls: Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays from 9am to noon, until end of August.
* Boys: Saturdays and Mondays from 5pm until Maghrib prayers.
* Islamic teaching and other activities. Various competitions and excursions .
* Transport provided within Dubai.

Al Ehsan Charity Centre, Ajman

* Free summer camp at Abdullah Bin Abu Bakr Mosque, Balouch Centre.
* Girls: Six to 12 years,
* Weekdays from 9 to 11am, until end of August

The Indian Islahi Centre, Bur Dubai, for Malayalam speaking children
* 10 to 15 years
* From 4.30pm to 6.15pm on weekdays, until end of August.
* Transport: Provided free within Dubai.
* Also at other branches of the centre in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Sharjah, Ajman, Fujeirah, Ras Al Khaima, Qusais and Deira, Dubai.
