How do you turn a house into a home that is abundant with a peaceful, welcoming environment that soothes your soul after a hectic day's work? By thinking minimalist yet stylish. We visit the home of a man who has, with a few deft touches and an uncluttered imagination, made his home a wonderful retreat.
Privacy is important in his life. So the owner of this apartment doesn't want his name to be revealed. However, he does not mind sharing the secret of his lifestyle: a clutter-free existence. Simple, elegant and touching on the Zen minimalist look - these are the words he uses to define the essence of his home in Dubai.
All this was not achieved overnight. His lifestyle is an accumulation of years of travelling, inherent good taste (he is an aficionado of books and music) and finding the right interior design company (Dubai-based Jadis).
"When I came here the apartment was empty. Even though it was a nice flat, it needed soul. I got to know about Jadis and explained to them that I wanted simple but elegant interiors - touching upon the Zen minimalist look. So they gave me a proposal. I liked it and we went ahead.
"What I have here suits my lifestyle in Dubai. I have a hectic work schedule which includes travelling throughout the Middle East. So my lifestyle at home is peaceful and quiet. I love to relax in these grey-and-white interiors designed by Magda Nahas.
"Jadis locally manufactured the living room beechwood furniture. The accessories, too, are mostly from Jadis. I enjoyed working with them because they did not impose their tastes on me."
