DUBAI A raft of projects was on display at Cityscape Global 2015 which draws to a close on September 10. While there was no evidence of a buying spree like in the old days, the event was not without its usual glitz and glamour.
Here are some hot picks from the real estate exhibiton at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

MALL OF THE WORLD

Developer: Dubai Holding

Location: Dubai Police Academy, Al Sufouh

What is it: Dh25 billion development including 8 million sqft shopping mall, world’s largest theme park, wellness dedicated zone, cultural celebration district and a wide range of hospitality options comprising 20,000 hotel rooms.

USP: The mall will have retractable glass dome which will remain open during winter

Burj 2020 District

Developer: Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC)

Location: Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT)

What is it: One million sqm master-planned development within JLT consisting of seven towers including the world’s tallest (700m) commercial tower called Burj 2020.

USP: 360 degree viewing deck at Burj 2020 tower.

Medium Pyramid

Developer: Falconcity of Wonders

Location: Dubailand
What is it: 20-storey structure featuring 2,000 pyramid-shaped service hotel apartments alongside mega projects inspired by the wonders of the world such as the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, Eiffel Tower and Taj Mahal -- all part of the 41 million sqft Falconcity of Wonders.

USP: Imagine waking up in a pyramid and looking at the Taj from your bedroom window.

Marsa Al Seef

Developer: Meraas

Location: Al Seef area

What is it: Cultural destination along the creek, showcasing Emirati heritage and culture. The 2.3 million sqft development will have an open-air museum, amphitheatre, traditional souks, art galleries and shops selling Emirati handicrafts, besides three hotels with over 500 rooms.

USP: Floating markets, unlike anything you have seen before.

The Villages

Developer: Dubai South

Location: Dubai South, formerly known as Dubai World Central

What is it: Residential development comprising apartments, studios, lofts, villas and townhouses.

USP: Botanical garden and slew of wellness centres.

Meydan One

Developer: Meydan

Location: Meydan

What is it: 3.5 million sqm development featuring a 711 metre residential tower with 885 apartments, besides a 350-key five star hotel.

USP: World’s highest 360 degree observation deck, world’s highest sky restaurant (675 m), 25,000 sqm indoor sports area, dancing fountains, boardwalk and heritage village.

Palm Promenade

Developer: Nakheel

Location: Palm Jumeirah

What is it: 1.5 km stretch along the Palm Jumeirah trunk which will be transformed into a walkable beach.

USP: Park, retail and eateries.

Viridian

Developer: G & Co

Location: Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City (District11)

What is it: Gated community consisting of 326 three and four-bedroom contemporary style townhouses, with prices ranging from Dh2.3 million to Dh2.9 million.

USP: Attractive payment plan allowing customers to pay five per cent upfront, 30 per cent on completion, 15 per cent at the time of handover and remaining 50 per cent over three years.
